## What happened

According to Have I Been Pwned, in March 2026 hackers claimed to have stolen data from Paidwork, a gig economy platform. The stolen data was reportedly listed for sale before nearly 11GB of it was posted publicly in July 2026. The breach was also reported by Cybernews.

## What was exposed

According to HIBP, the exposed data included bank account numbers, financial transaction history, passwords stored as bcrypt hashes, email addresses, names, phone numbers, physical addresses, dates of birth, IP addresses, device information, education levels, genders, personal interests, and profile photos.

## Who is affected

More than 23 million unique accounts are reported to be affected. The data relates to users of the Paidwork platform, including workers who received payouts through the service.

If you have a Paidwork account, change your password immediately and use a unique password not shared with other services.
